Job Summary

The Accountant manages the financial records of the travel agency, ensuring accurate accounting of sales, bookings, supplier payments, and operational expenses. This role supports financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and smooth coordination between the finance team, ticketing officers, and travel suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including sales invoices, receipts, and expense reports.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial summaries and statements.
  • Reconcile accounts such as cash, bank transactions, sales reports, and supplier statements.
  • Process payments to airlines, hotels, and travel suppliers, ensuring timely settlement of dues.
  • Monitor client payments, outstanding balances, and issue official receipts.
  • Review booking transactions and coordinate with ticketing/reservations team to verify accuracy.
  • Prepare payroll, statutory contributions, and government remittances (BIR, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG).
  • Assist in budget preparation, cost control, and financial forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and local tax regulations.
  • Maintain organized financial files and support audit requirements.
  • Provide financial insights to management for decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven experience in accounting; experience in travel or service industry is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting, and government compliance.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with travel agency operations (bookings, ticketing, supplier settlement).
  • Knowledge of invoicing and credit/payment cycles.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
