Role Description

To be responsible for all culinary dishes that are prepared in kitchen section. He/She must be organized and able to work in a high-pressure environment. He /She must be reliably to carry out orders handed down to them by the Sous Chef and Executive Chef.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Oversee the dishes are well prepared and cooked according to the specific restaurant standards
  • Endure clear direction to be given to the chefs in their section of preparing, cooking and presenting dishes by enforcing health and Safety food hygiene standard
  • Ensure that stock is rotated and controlled within the specific section of the kitchen
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines are carefully adhered to
  • To be responsible for completing place
  • To be flexible and willing to help the restaurant kitchen at busy times if required
  • Must follow all the policies and food safety rules in kitchen to ensure quality product
  • Preparing the ingredients for senior chef
  • Measuring dish ingredients and portion sizes accurately
  • Responsible for food labelling and stock rotation (FIFO), inform senior chef when par stock is low
  • Dealing with deliveries and stock rotation
  • Ensure to adhere with health and food safety standard
  • Help to troubleshoot and solve any kitchen issues that may arise and highlight to Sous Chef

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional kitchen experience, with at least 1-2 years in a Demi Chef de Partie or Junior Chef de Partie role
  • Culinary Diploma/Degree: A formal qualification from a recognized culinary or pastry arts school is essential
  • Advanced Food Safety Certifications: Often required beyond basic food handling, especially for supervisory roles
  • Experience in a high-end environment is critical: luxury hotels, upscale patisseries, fine-dining restaurants, or premium retail food operations
  • Complete, independent mastery of all operations for a specific kitchen station—from prep and cooking to plating and waste management
  • With Leadership & Management Skills, directly supervises and trains Demi Chefs and Commis Chefs in their section. Delegates tasks efficiently
  • Well communication in kitchen and calmly under pressure
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues on the station during service (e.g., a shortage, a quality problem) quickly and effectively
  • Expert at planning and organizing the section's prep for daily service and peak periods
