Role Overview

AI Ethics & Safety Officer

The AI Ethics & Safety Officer will serve as the primary steward of ethical AI deployment and safety governance across the organization. This strategic role is responsible for designing, implementing, and enforcing ethical guidelines, safety protocols, and risk management frameworks for AI systems and initiatives. Working closely with global teams, the Officer will ensure that all AI projects meet the highest standards of ethical compliance, operational safety, and risk mitigation.

This is a part-time, remote role
with direct involvement in liaising with clients, third-party partners, and internal teams to uphold rigorous ethical and safety standards in AI implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and enforce ethical and safety frameworks for AI initiatives.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for AI systems.
  • Lead investigations into potential ethical breaches, safety incidents, or non-compliance, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver security and safety training programs for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure adherence to international AI ethics standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients and third-party resources on matters related to AI ethics and safety.
  • Monitor emerging trends in AI governance, safety protocols, and regulatory frameworks to inform organizational strategy.

Qualifications

  • Proven background in Health & Safety, Occupational Health, or related domains with the ability to develop and oversee safety protocols.
  • Experience in accident or incident investigation with a focus on implementing preventive measures.
  • Expertise in safety and security training to promote adherence to best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and mitigate ethical and safety risks in AI systems.
  • Knowledge of global AI ethics frameworks, governance standards, and relevant regulations is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage effectively with diverse, international teams.
  • Relevant certifications in occupational health & safety or AI ethics are highly desirable.
