About the Role

We're hiring a PHP Developer (LAMP Stack) to build and maintain high-performing backend systems for internal and external applications. You'll deliver backend features from scratch, integrate RESTful APIs, and optimise MySQL databases for speed, scalability, and security.

This role is for an AI-adaptive operator who thrives in lean, fast-moving teams. You'll collaborate directly with decision-makers, influence architecture decisions, and deliver measurable impact within your first 30 days.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop backend logic in PHP from scratch for portals, dashboards, and CMS tools.
• Integrate RESTful APIs with internal and third-party services.
• Optimise MySQL queries, indexing, and schema design for performance gains.
• Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Implement security best practices across backend systems.
• Leverage AI tools for code review, refactoring, and developer productivity.

Performance Milestones

First 30 Days

• Deploy 2 high-impact backend features ("value bombs") that measurably improve workflows or performance.
• Demonstrate AI-enhanced coding workflows in at least one deliverable.

By Day 60

• Own full-cycle delivery of assigned modules and integrations.
• Complete at least one major API integration with robust error handling and data mapping.

By Day 90

• Achieve ?20% query performance improvement through MySQL optimisation.
• Lead a process or tooling upgrade that improves delivery speed team-wide.

• Delivery: Ship at least 2 production-ready backend modules per month.
• Integration: Complete one major API integration per quarter.

Requirements

• 4–7 years' experience in PHP development with LAMP stack proficiency.
• Proven experience with API integrations and database optimisation.
• Comfortable working with ambiguous specs and translating business needs into technical solutions.
• Experience in mid-sized dev agencies or startups preferred.
• Familiar with AI-enhanced development workflows.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with non-technical stakeholders.
