Position Summary
The
Sales Tax Analyst
at HelloFresh will support key aspects of the U.S. tax function, with a primary focus on indirect tax compliance, tax technology and property tax management. This role involves the support of multiple US Legal entities in their pursuit of multijurisdictional US sales tax compliance. This includes but is not limited to the management of recurring state and municipal tax filings, supporting audits, and contributing to process improvements and special projects.

What You'll Do

  • Review U.S. Sales Tax returns prepared by Avalara and file Indirect Gross Receipts Tax returns for all US brands.
  • Maintain tax calendars and filing deadlines to ensure timely and accurate return filings and payments.
  • Prepare and reconcile sales and indirect tax accruals and related journal entries during month-end close.
  • Compile and maintain supporting documentation and accounting workpapers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness.
  • Assist with responding to tax notices and managing audits, including data collection and communication with tax authorities.
  • Support tax system maintenance and automation initiatives involving Avalara and Oracle Sales Tax and Indirect Tax journal entries.
  • Aggregate data to be used by 3rd party property tax advisors for property tax compliance across all US locations.
  • Maintain records of real and personal property tax accounts and related filings.
  • Support cross-departmental tax queries and contribute to ad hoc tax planning projects.
  • Support the US Tax Teams goal of full compliance with state and local tax authority requirements.

What You'll Bring

  • Someone with excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
  • High Energy individual with strong work ethic; Must be a self-motivator.
  • Possess advanced Excel and data manipulation skills (familiarity with SQL & Tableau are a plus).
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance.
  • Minimum 1 year working with a public tax advisory firm, law firm, or within an indirect tax function.
  • Experience with Avalara Tax Determination and Oracle ERP a plus.
  • Eager to learn US sales taxes
