Position: Medical Technologist

Location: TeleCure Medical and Diagnostic Center, 221 Tanjeco St., Barangay San Vicente (Poblacion), Malolos City, Bulacan

Type: Full-time (Probationary)

Work Schedule: 6 days a week, 8 hours per day

Reports To: Branch Manager

Role Overview:

The Medical Technologist at TeleCure Medical and Diagnostic Center is responsible for the conduct of clinical laboratory procedures in compliance with Republic Act No The Philippine Medical Technology Act of 1969), as applicable to the services offered by the facility. This role supports physicians and healthcare professionals by providing accurate and timely diagnostic results, while maintaining quality standards, laboratory safety, and applicable biosafety protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Diagnostic Testing:

• Conduct examinations of tissues, secretions, excretions, body fluids, and other biological specimens by applying appropriate laboratory procedures and techniques, whether manual or automated, using electronic, chemical, microscopic, hematologic, serologic, immunologic, or other authorized methods.
• Collect patient specimens (e.g., blood, urine, swabs) following standard procedures to ensure accuracy, patient safety, and specimen integrity.
• Prepare and standardize reagents, standards, stains, and other laboratory materials for exclusive laboratory use.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments to ensure consistent accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Record and report laboratory results promptly and accurately, in accordance with established protocols and laboratory guidelines.

Quality Assurance:

• Implement and maintain clinical laboratory quality control procedures to ensure reliability and accuracy of test results.
• Participate in internal and external proficiency testing and quality assurance programs.
• Maintain documentation and records as required for regulatory compliance and accreditation.

Biosafety and Biosecurity Responsibilities:

• When formally designated, serve as the Biosafety and Biosecurity Officer, responsible for overseeing the implementation of biosafety and biosecurity protocols, provided appropriate training and certification are completed.
• Conduct periodic risk assessments, safety inspections, and enforce corrective actions to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
• Assist in the development and update of biosafety and biosecurity plans, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the safe handling of biological materials and infectious agents.
• Provide or participate in training and education on biosafety and emergency preparedness protocols as required.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with applicable biosafety standards, when applicable.

Professional Development:

• Actively participate in professional organizations and associations to remain current in medical technology advancements and best practices.
• Pursue continuing education and professional development to maintain competency and compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Perform other related duties that may be assigned by management, as necessary for laboratory operations.
• May be temporarily assigned to different laboratory sections or branch locations based on operational requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science.
• PRC-licensed Medical Technologist in good standing.
• Certified in Biosafety and Biosecurity training (if designated as Biosafety Officer).
• Proficient in laboratory techniques across multiple clinical laboratory sections applicable to the services of the facility.
• Strong understanding of clinical laboratory quality control, specimen collection, and handling procedures.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and regulatory compliance.
