Role Purpose & Business Impact:

The Mechanical Engineer / Technician (Hospitality) is a mission-critical operational role responsible for safeguarding the reliability, safety, and performance of all facilities, utilities, and kitchen equipment across NT Group's restaurants and commissaries.

This role directly impacts revenue continuity, cost control, food safety, and guest experience by preventing equipment downtime, reducing repair costs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting timely store openings and expansions. Effective execution minimizes operational disruptions that can negatively affect service speed, food quality, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

A. Equipment Reliability & Preventive Maintenance

• Perform scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and utility systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair breakdowns involving commercial kitchen equipment, chillers, freezers, exhaust and ventilation systems, and related utilities.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce emergency repairs, extend equipment life, and protect operating margins.

B. Facility Safety & Compliance

• Conduct regular facility inspections to ensure compliance with Company standards, safety regulations, sanitation requirements, and operational best practices.
• Identify potential risks, safety hazards, or equipment inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions to prevent operational losses or guest impact.
• Ensure all maintenance activities align with internal SOPs and applicable regulatory requirements.

C. Store Expansion, Installation & Projects

• Provide technical support for new store openings, commissary setups, renovations, and equipment fit-outs.
• Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of kitchen equipment and mechanical systems to ensure readiness and compliance prior to operations.
• Coordinate closely with Operations, Contractors, and Suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.

D. Asset Management & Documentation

• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, repair reports, and spare parts inventory.
• Support asset tracking and lifecycle management to aid budgeting, forecasting, and capital expenditure planning.
• Provide timely updates and technical reports to Engineering and Operations leadership.

E. Vendor & Contractor Coordination

• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance, repairs, or certifications.
• Monitor service quality, turnaround time, and cost efficiency to protect Company interests and operational uptime.

Qualifications:

• Vocational, Technical, or TESDA certification in Electrical Installation & Maintenance, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Mechanical Technology, or equivalent technical field.
• Valid safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, Electrical Safety) are preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of hands-on experience in maintenance and repairs within the F&B, retail, or hospitality industry, preferably involving commercial kitchen equipment, walk-in coolers, and industrial HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with major commercial kitchen and refrigeration brands (e.g., Hobart, True, Carrier) is an advantage.
• Strong technical skills in troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
• Experience working with 220V/440V commercial electrical systems, motor controls, and industrial equipment.
• Willing and able to travel to multiple branches across Metro Manila.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for branch visits.
• Professional driver's license is required for this position.
• Flexible to work on shifting schedules, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
