I. JOB IDENTIFICATION
POSITION : MARINE SUPERINTENDENT
REPORTS TO : FLEET MANAGER
DEPARTMENT : Marine Operations
SUPERVISES/OVERSEES : Assigned Vessels
II. JOB SUMMARY
The position holds responsibility for ensuring the optimal readiness of vessels through operational support and compliance with charterers and terminal requirements.
III. RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor day-to-day ship operations to ensure smooth activities at sea and at port, preventing accidents and operational delays.
Ensure vessel readiness for charter by monitoring the validity of statutory certificates and overseeing the renewal process for ship equipment servicing and certificate issuance.
Closely monitor and assess pre-loading/pre-discharging plans, ballasting/de-ballasting, gas freeing and tank cleaning, mooring/unmooring, anchoring procedures, and other deck-related operational aspects of the vessels.
Monitor the condition and maintenance status of safety equipment (firefighting & lifesaving) and portable instruments, taking necessary actions in cooperation with the Technical Maintenance Department.
Monitor inventories of mooring equipment and safety items, arranging timely replacement/supply in collaboration with relevant departments.
Perform regular boarding inspections on assigned vessels, conducting evaluations twice annually – during discharging at disport and while sailing. Compile comprehensive boarding reports and gather crew feedback, submitting findings promptly to the Fleet Manager for review and analysis.
Follow up on the closeout of any deficiencies identified during third-party inspections.
Monitor the correction/rectification of outstanding items related to safety, pollution prevention, and safe vessel operation.
Assist in the conduct of marine incident investigations as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Arrange and coordinate vessel inspections, ensuring corrective actions for deficiencies and non- conformities from inspections and audits are implemented and rectified onboard.
Verify compliance with ISM, ISPS, and MLC codes by ensuring vessels are operated and maintained in accordance with Company policies, maritime rules, regulations, and industry standards.
Assist shipboard management in updating Harmonized Vessel Particular Questionnaire (HPVQ), Q88, and other vessel information questionnaires as required by charterers.
Participate in the briefing and debriefing of Masters, Chief Engineers, and Senior Officers, monitoring their performance onboard and reporting to the Fleet Manager.
Sail with vessels, conduct navigational audits, and facilitate onboard emergency drills, providing recommendations for improvement.
Follow up on corrective actions for deficiencies noted during vessel boarding inspections, reporting on proper maintenance and upkeep.
Conduct onboard training/briefing for Deck Officers regarding the requirements of the Management System related to the marine aspects of the vessel.

IV. MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS
A. Education/License:
Bachelor's degree in Marine Transportation
With Master Mariner License
Must have a valid Driver's license.
B. Years and Type of Experience
- Preferably with 2 years Shipboard experience as Master Mariner.
C. Related Knowledge and Skills
Average verbal/oral written communication skills.
Can effectively elated with people in all levels of the organization.
Proficient in the use of MS Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
