Reports To: Billing and Collection Manager
Job Summary:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the billing process. This role involves maintaining accurate billing records, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The Billing Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that the organization receives proper reimbursement for medical services provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Claims Processing:
Prepare and submit insurance claims for reimbursement for services rendered by
healthcare providers.
Review claims for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with insurance and
healthcare provider standards.
Follow up with insurance companies to track claim status, resolve denials, and
handle appeals as needed.
- Account Reconciliation:
Reconcile accounts receivable to ensure that payments are posted correctly and that
balances are accurate.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies, including missing payments, overpayments,
or underpayments.
Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure that accounts are in good standing.
- Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure billing practices comply with healthcare regulations and insurance
requirements.
Maintain accurate and complete billing records for audits and future reference.
Stay up to date on changes in insurance policies, billing codes, and regulatory
requirements.
- Reporting:
Provide regular reports to the Billing and Collection Manager regarding billing
status, claim rejections, payment trends, and outstanding balances.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field
(preferred).
Experience:
At least 1-2 years of experience in billing or a similar role.
Experience with healthcare billing software preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in billing.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to resolve complex billing issues and inquiries.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Salary: There will be an initiall salary for the first 3 months and later on have an adjustment, as the company grows, more increases will be set.
