Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Network Operations Engineer will be responsible for monitoring all customer networks and responding to incidents in a timely manner to minimize their impact. This role is also responsible for coordinating maintenance and troubleshooting activities with customers, internal groups, and external vendors. The Senior Network Operations Engineer will also provide high level escalation support as well as guidance and mentoring for the rest of the Network Operations Center (NOC) team. This is a shift-based role in the 24x7 Network Operations Center.

Job Description:

  • Support day to day operations of internal and third-party production system, network hardware and applications.
  • Provide timely "final-tier" operations support for customer networks and network management systems within NOC.
  • Prioritize resources and provide technical assistance to ensure incidents are resolved in appropriate order based on business needs.
  • Work with project teams comprised of system and network engineers, software developers, and non technical staff to deploy and manage infrastructure that will support new customers, products and features.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and repair activities with customers, vendors, and other groups both internal and external. Maintain open communication with interested parties and provide timely updates as the fault repair progresses. Ensure all work is properly documented in the incident ticket.
  • Liaise closely with Product Implementation and Development for new features and updates on new product deliverables.
  • Participate in the network design and approval process. Remotely commission and configure system and network components at customer sites.
  • Write scripts to automate administration, provisioning, and monitoring/alerting tasks.
  • Understand, review, and perform action plans (RFCs) for planned and unplanned changes to production network infrastructure.
  • Maintain network and server documentation, including a record of equipment failures. Update site documentation after configuration or equipment changes and upgrades. Update internal troubleshooting knowledge base.
  • Remotely roll-out patches released by the Product Development team and external vendors to multiple production devices.
  • Assist in identifying new tools, processes, or procedures that would help resolve issues or create a more efficient monitoring process.
  • Understand the importance of network and system security and participate in security and configuration audits.
  • Provide leadership, lead technical projects, and mentor junior NOC staff, and NOC Team Leader. Provide occasional training on areas of expertise to the department.
  • Create and manage engineer roster on monthly basis and update roster based on engineer leave application, medical leave and shift swap from time to time.
