JOB DESCRIPTION

The General Accountant is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and maintaining accurate financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax obligations, and other financial activities. The role ensures compliance with accounting standards and provides management with reliable financial information for decision-making.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzing and reviewing financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and equity statements.
  • Recording and reconciling financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries.
  • Encoding invoices, setting up new accounts, reconciling accounts, and assisting in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
  • Preparing and filing necessary tax forms with the relevant government agencies in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring accruals, prepayments, and adjusting journal entries to ensure proper financial reporting.
  • Assisting auditors by gathering necessary account information and supporting documents during internal and external audits.
  • Ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other applicable financial regulations.
  • Supporting budget preparation, variance analysis, and forecasting activities.
  • Monitoring and maintaining fixed assets register and depreciation schedules.
  • Preparing schedules and reports to support management decision-making.
  • Performing other related duties as necessary or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of Accounting, Finance, or related courses.
  • Proven experience in general accounting with strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes and terminologies, including bookkeeping and reconciliation procedures.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to generate actionable insights from financial data.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and proofreading ability.
  • Ability to respond promptly and accurately to requests for data.
  • Strong time management, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in the banking or foreign exchange industry is a plus.
  • Prior experience as an Accounts Receivable Clerk, Accounts Payable Clerk, or related role is an advantage

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php15, Php25,000.00 per month
