Key Accountabilities & Activities

  1. Design, Engineering and support Management

  2. Support the Head and Project Management teams on developing and implementing successful design and technical strategies and delivering high-quality projects.

  3. Support management of all facets of the design process from brief
  4. Act as site-architect when representing client during project execution
  5. Directs the Architectural works to ensure constructability
  6. Reviews design and submittals for value engineering and constructability.
  7. Become familiar with the requirements of Architectural drawings, specifications, schedules for the works under his/her direction and coordination.
  8. Does and checks Architectural calculations as needed and reports deviation from architectural standards.
  9. Review of the percentage of completed works submitted by design consultants in the weekly/monthly reports and report the same to AED Head
  10. Plan and review with the project management team and or contractors and their superintendents, the program of works including method statement, procedures, layout, equipment, manpower requirements, and contractors' interface and coordination.
  11. Monitor ongoing Architectural works, on a daily basis, to ensure timely performance and compliance with plans and specifications.
  12. Evaluation of any modifications or changes that may occur during project period and provide alternative solutions where necessary.
  13. Monitor and expedite contractor's procurement of architectural material and equipment.  Report to Project Management for any delays and critical items. Ensure material delivered to site complies with approved material submittals.
  14. Monitor, expedite, and supervise the Architectural contractor's methods of testing and commissioning. Actively participate in testing and commissioning procedure reviews.
  15. Monitor, expedite and review contractor's submittals of close-out documents and as-built drawings.
  16. Maintain accurate records on a current basis such as drawings, specifications, VOs, correspondence, transmittals etc.
  17. Oversee the performance of consultant's architect.
  18. Agree joint hold/inspection points with consultant's architect.
  19. Recommend additional material tests as and when needed.
  20. Review tender documents.
  21. Review RFI's, transmittals and expedite the response from the Consultant.
  22. Advise and resolves engineering/design issues in liaison with the Consultant during construction phase as well as providing supervision services on behalf of Client.
  23. Provide technical comments / responses to queries related to construction, methods and/processes during various project delivery phase.

  24. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  25. Departmental Interface

  26. Collaboration in the procurement process throughout the project design stages

  27. Coordinates and communicates with various sections within the department in order to assess project design, engineering and construction issues.
  28. Communicates with construction and operations sections to discuss contractor's designs/changes/technical concerns and other related issues.
  29. Advise on project management and Architectural matters to the Management and Team as and when required by the Management for all projects undertaken by the company for execution.
  30. Participate in job meetings to inform the status of construction activities in various packages and to highlight any critical items.
  31. Organize and conduct regular (weekly or bi-weekly) progress and technical coordination meetings involving all relevant parties.
Job Specifications
  1. Knowledge of local and international regulations, specification standards, execution methods, project and general management experience. Knowledge of architectural time-saver standards.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  3. 3-5 years' experience in architecture and construction.
