CASHIER

Job Purpose

The Cashier ensures a smooth, accurate, and welcoming checkout experience for every customer. This role is essential in processing transactions efficiently, delivering outstanding customer service, safeguarding cash and assets, and keeping the checkout area organized and visually appealing. The Cashier also supports overall store operations by assisting with merchandising, stock replenishment, and team collaboration.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Transaction Processing

· Accurately process cash, credit, debit, and digital payment transactions using the store's POS system.

· Ensure correct scanning, pricing, and recording of all purchases.

· Apply promotions and discounts in accordance with store policies.

2. Customer Service

· Greet customers warmly and maintain a professional, approachable demeanor.

· Respond to inquiries, resolve checkout-related issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.

· Promote loyalty programs and special offers at the point of sale.

3. Checkout Area Maintenance

· Keep checkout counters clean, tidy, and stocked with bags, receipt paper, and other essentials.

· Maintain attractive and organized impulse-buy and promotional displays.

4. Returns & Exchanges

· Process returns, exchanges, and refunds according to policies.

· Handle transactions with professionalism and maintain accurate records.

5. Cash Drawer Management

· Count and balance cash drawers at the start and end of each shift.

· Report and document any discrepancies immediately.

6. Store Support

· Assist with restocking, display organization, and basic inventory tasks when needed.

· Collaborate with team members to maintain store appearance and operational efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Numerical Accuracy – Strong ability to handle cash transactions with precision.

· Customer Service Orientation – Friendly, approachable, and responsive to customer needs.

· Attention to Detail – Ensures accuracy in transactions, pricing, and record-keeping.
