Audit Officer (Hotel Operations)

Job Summary:

The Audit Officer is responsible for conducting financial and operational audits of all hotel departments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity of hotel processes. The role ensures that internal controls, standards, and policies are properly implemented across all hotel operations including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Purchasing, and General Services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Financial Audit & Control

  • Review and validate daily revenue reports from Front Office, F&B outlets, and other revenue centers.
  • Audit cashier reports, cash variances, credit card transactions, charge slips, and account adjustments.
  • Check accuracy of posted transactions in the PMS and POS systems.
  • Monitor discount approvals, complimentary/house accounts, and void/refund transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, cash-handling procedures, and internal controls.

2. Operational Audit

  • Conduct regular audits of hotel operations including Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Purchasing, Maintenance, and Security.
  • Evaluate compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform spot checks on inventories (linen, minibar, amenities, food supplies, storerooms).
  • Monitor proper issuance, consumption, and safeguarding of hotel assets and supplies.
  • Validate monthly inventory reports and investigate irregularities.

3. Risk Assessment & Compliance

  • Identify operational risks and recommend preventive or corrective actions.
  • Review compliance with hotel policies and government regulations when applicable.
  • Report gaps, inconsistencies, and potential fraud or misuse of hotel resources.

4. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare detailed audit findings and present clear recommendations to management.
  • Issue audit reports and track the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential audit records and documentation.
  • Assist in preparing annual audit plans.

5. Coordination & Support

  • Work closely with department heads when gathering audit requirements.
  • Coordinate with Accounting, HR, Purchasing, and other units for cross-checking data.
  • Support external auditors during financial or compliance audits.
  • Conduct follow-up audits to ensure corrections are properly implemented.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Hotel Management, or related field.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in auditing, hotel finance, or hotel operations.
  • Solid understanding of hotel systems (PMS, POS) and basic accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
