General Ledger – Job Duties & Responsibilities (5–6 Years Experience)General Ledger Management

  • Perform end-to-end GL accounting, including journal entry preparation, posting, and review.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Maintain and reconcile GL accounts, ensuring balances are accurate, complete, and properly supported.

Month-End & Year-End Closing

  • Lead month-end closing activities such as accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and adjustments.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, balance sheets, and P&L schedules.
  • Support year-end closing and assist with statutory and audit requirements.

Account Reconciliation & Analysis

  • Perform detailed reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, including fixed assets, intercompany, accruals, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, variances, and unusual account movements.
  • Conduct flux analysis and provide commentary for management reporting.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare supporting schedules for internal and external audits, tax filings, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure financial records comply with IFRS/GAAP, internal controls, and corporate accounting policies.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.

Intercompany Accounting

  • Handle intercompany billing, reconciliations, confirmations, and settlements.
  • Coordinate with global or regional finance teams to ensure accurate and timely intercompany postings.

Fixed Assets Management (If Applicable)

  • Record additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation for fixed assets.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accurate capitalization in accordance with accounting rules.

Process Improvement & System Support

  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend enhancements to GL processes or reporting workflows.
  • Support ERP upgrades, automation projects, and system implementation related to financial processes.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across accounting systems.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with AP, AR, FP&A, Tax, and Operations teams to validate financial information.
  • Provide financial support and respond to inquiries from business partners, auditors, and management.
  • Mentor junior accountants and support training for new team members.
