The Unit Supervisor supports the Unit Head in managing the daily operations of the assigned laboratory unit, ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant laboratory services through proper execution of pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical procedures while guiding and supporting the laboratory team in line with established standards and quality systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Amenable to perform and validate routine and laboratory procedures in microbiology, immunochemistry and/or routine molecular pathology.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, including automated track systems.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical laboratory standards, quality assurance programs, and infection control policies.
  • Validate analytical processes, quality control procedures, and test results prior to release.

  • Monitor turnaround time (TAT), inventory levels, and working stocks. Report and manage critical test results and values accurately and promptly.

  • Monitor daily equipment maintenance and coordinate repair, calibration, and preventive maintenance.

  • Investigate patient complaints and laboratory incidents; recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate records for inventory, equipment maintenance, repairs, and calibration.

  • Initiate purchase requests and follow up on critical laboratory supplies. Respond to emergency conditions and initiate appropriate escalation procedures.

  • Assist the Unit Head in personnel management, scheduling, and performance monitoring. Conduct staff orientation, technical skills training, and ongoing competency assessments.

  • Ensure implementation and monitoring of quality standards, SOPs, and work instructions. Support audits, inspections, and accreditation requirements.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment. Escalate operational issues and risks to the Unit Head in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A graduate and licensed Medical Technologist with leadership, organizational, and people management skills with minimum of 4 years' work experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • Ability to drive operational results while maintaining a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Amenable to work in Makati City.
