The Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation and monitoring of the facility's utility plant equipment. This includes systems such as air compressors, water treatment systems, boilers (if applicable), chillers, and primary HVAC units, ensuring all production and facility areas receive the necessary services (electricity, chilled water, compressed air, etc.) to maintain operations and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operation and Monitoring

  • Operate, monitor, and control the facility's key utility equipment, including industrial air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, electrical generators, and water treatment systems, strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Regularly check and record critical parameters (e.g., temperatures, pressures, flow rates, levels) and make necessary adjustments to optimize system performance and efficiency.
  • Respond immediately to alarms, abnormal conditions, or utility breakdowns, performing initial troubleshooting and taking corrective actions as per established protocols.

Maintenance and Housekeeping

  • Perform routine Preventive Maintenance (PM) checks, including lubrication, filter changes, and minor adjustments on utility machinery.
  • Assist Maintenance Staff in complex repairs of plant equipment and coordinate with external contractors for specialized services.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the utility plant area, equipment, and control rooms.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to all company safety regulations, particularly those related to boiler operation (if applicable), pressure vessels, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Monitor and manage the inventory and safe handling of chemicals used for water treatment and other plant processes.
  • Document all operating logs, maintenance activities, and consumption reports accurately and completely.
  • Comply with environmental regulations and company standards related to emissions and waste water discharge.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Vocational or Technical course certificate/diploma in Electromechanical Technology, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Technology.
