Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for management review.

2. Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Develop annual budgets for property management operations, collaborating with department heads to gather input and insights.

  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis and recommendations for corrective action.

3. Accounts Payable and Receivable

  • Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.

  • Manage cash flow to optimize working capital and monitor collection efforts to maintain outstanding accounts.

4. General Ledger Management

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring proper accounting controls are in place.

  • Review journal entries and perform month-end closing procedures to ensure accuracy.

5. Compliance and Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting regulations, tax laws, and property management industry standards.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to minimize risk and safeguard company assets.

6. Operational Support

  • Collaborate with property managers and operations staff to streamline financial processes and improve operational efficiency.

  • Provide financial insights and support to operations teams for decision-making and strategy formulation.

7. Team Leadership and Development

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a team-oriented environment and promoting professional growth.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.

8. Technology and System Management

  • Evaluate and implement accounting and property management software solutions, ensuring systems support operational needs.

  • Optimize financial processes through automation and best practices.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, preferably in property management or real estate.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with financial reporting and analysis.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
