WHAT IS A/AN TECHNICAL LEAD (MAGENTO)?

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead to join our IT Digital Team. You will work closely with our Digital, Marketing and IT stakeholders to help support and continue to grow our digital and integration platforms. You will play a key role in driving the technical direction, strategy, and execution of initiatives in the digital space. On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for understanding business requirements, overseeing the technical solutions by making architectural and design decisions and ensuring that all the development code delivered is of good quality and meet coding standards. Your role is hands on and may also include some coding and delivery of backlog initiatives within our PWA, Magento and other Digital Platforms.

Your technical background and experience will ensure you can offer the support and guidance required and being able to support and assist developers at code level. This role requires you to have a deep level of e-commerce, Magento, PWA, NextJS, React, API, and integration experience to influence the roadmap of our digital applications. Your focus will be mostly the technical implementation of our delivery and store-to-door optimisation initiatives. You will work within a fast-paced Agile software development environment and will work directly with leading technology vendors including Adobe, Shippit and Uber

Moreover, you will be required to have good facilitation skills that enable you to run various technical workshops with internal teams and vendors including, solution workshops, code review, knowledge sharing sessions and more. Reporting to the Head of Digital Delivery you will play a key role in driving technical success in BAU and Project space.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES?

Key areas for support include customer facing ecommerce websites & system integration, order management, store and fulfillment operations, and digital & marketing technologies.

• Lead and provide input to solution design of digital solutions, considering scalability, security & performance.
• Conduct regular code reviews to ensure quality is maintained and meets coding standards.
• Report on the Development Quality Measures of our vendors on a regular basis.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand the business requirements and suggest technical solutions.
• Provide solutions to complex issues and critical problems.
• Code development
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team and development vendors.
• Proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities in the digital and enterprise space
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices.
• Identify and communicate technical risks and dependencies.
• Ensure our platforms are of high security standards and our environments are regularly patched.
• Provide leadership in improving software development at Greencross, considering Devops and CI/CD tools.
• Mentor and provide some training to your peers to help develop their technical knowledge.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Tertiary degree in IT/Computer Science preferred.
• Experience in a similar role is required.
• Experience with Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce Cloud, large scale PHP eComm web development experience is a must.
• Knowledge and/or integration experience with Marketplace Management, Order Management (Comestri experience preferred), eCommerce fulfillment systems (e.g. Shippit) and Product Information Management systems is required.
• API integration and GraphQL skills is required.
• Experience with PWA, NextJS, React, App development, Wordpress, Boomi or similar Integration tools is desirable.
• Experience with last mile delivery services highly desired.
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent people and stakeholder management
• Willingness to do some coding and be a hands-on engineer
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence others.
• Experience and a good understanding of project lifecycle
• Should have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with a broad range of people and roles, including vendors (on-shore and off-shore), IT & Business senior stakeholders.
• Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to proactively identify and tackle issues before they become roadblocks

• Strong knowledge of e-commerce and retail business

• Is comfortable executing against tasks that are occasionally ambiguous, but works independently to seek out needed information

• Strong knowledge of multi-channel retail businesses and supply chain is desired approach to problem solving.

• A desire to remain technically capable and an expert in current technologies

• Experience with the following tools is desirable: JIRA, confluence, Microsoft 365
