An Ophthalmic technician is responsible for performing different ophthalmic diagnostic procedures based on standard operating procedures. They ensure the proper preparation of all necessary supplies and materials for these procedures and are also tasked with preparing images, printouts, and documents for the release of results. Additionally, the technician performs daily cleaning and calibration of all eye center machines to maintain optimal operational efficiency, ensuring accurate and reliable diagnostic outcomes.

Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities :

  • Performing Ophthalmic Diagnostic Procedures: Conducting diagnostic procedures and imaging following standard operating procedures.
  • Image and Document Preparation: Prepares and organizes images, printouts, and documents for the release of diagnostic results to patients.
  • Patient Discharge and Instructions: Providing patients with clear discharge instructions and precautionary steps as per doctor's orders.
  • Preparation of Supplies and Materials: Prepares all necessary supplies, materials, and equipment for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Inventory and Equipment Management: Managing medical supplies and ensuring adequate inventory levels. Performing daily calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of diagnostic equipment.
  • Coordination and Team Communication: Coordinating with the eye center team for scheduling procedures, consultations, and follow-up appointments. Actively participate in Eye center-initiated programs and initiatives, such as employee engagement activities and training programs. Recommends systems and processes that will enhance and improve the workflow and operations of the eye center.

Skills:

  • Willingness to learn and perform standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols for patient preparation, image acquisition, and post-procedure care.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, explain procedures, and alleviate any concerns.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Willingness to stay updated on the latest ophthalmic technologies, procedures, and industry standards.
