Superannuation Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and detail-focused Superannuation Specialist to provide technical expertise and operational support in the administration and compliance of superannuation, with a strong emphasis on Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs). This role is crucial for managing the end-to-end superannuation process, from administration to final review, ensuring all files and documentation meet strict regulatory and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate will be adept at navigating complex fund workflows, staying current with legislative changes, and maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance.
ResponsibilitiesSuperannuation Administration & Compliance:
Manage end-to-end superannuation processing, including contributions, rollovers, benefit payments, and compliance reporting.
Review and prepare all documentation for lodgments, compliance checks, and audits (e.g., TBARs, pension commencements, minimum pension reviews).
Monitor and apply regulatory updates from the ATO, ASIC, and Treasury to ensure ongoing compliance.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across superannuation platforms (e.g., BGL 360 or similar).
Technical Support & Collaboration:
Provide expertise on superannuation regulations, particularly for SMSFs and employer obligations.
Collaborate with accountants, auditors, and compliance teams to ensure process accuracy and efficiency.
Assist with fund set-ups, restructures, year-end processing, and document collation.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve workflows and enhance compliance controls.
Support internal updates and training on superannuation changes and best practices.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in superannuation administration, technical services, or fund operations.
Deep understanding of Australian superannuation legislation, with a strong focus on compliance and reporting.
Proven experience in managing SMSFs, including contributions, pensions, and member balances.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive financial data with accuracy.
Experience with year-end fund processing and compliance review cycles.
Familiarity with ATO reporting requirements and superannuation audit processes.
BGL 360, Class Super, or similar superannuation administration platforms.
Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
Microsoft Office / Google Workspace.
Highly Organized: Able to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accurate records.
Compliance-Driven: Ensures all work meets legal and regulatory standards.
Analytical Thinker: Interprets complex legislative changes with ease.
Collaborative Communicator: Works effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
Self-Motivated: Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
