Purpose

To maximize revenue by optimization of company assets through Trading in Spot Energy and Ancillary Services.

Accountability

Real-time up to week-ahead analysis of the spot and ancillary/reserve markets,

Execution of the agreed strategy and explore short-term opportunities to maximize revenue in the electricity market, Trading (and/or Nomination and Re-nomination) of Company's generation capability for provision of Ancillary Service in accordance to the provisions of the Ancillary Services Procurement Agreement (ASPA) and/or the Reserve Market rules, and Submission and updating of Spot Market Offers in accordance with WESM rules.

Skills:

Computer literate with basic knowledge and understanding of competitive Electricity markets, Power System Operation and Analysis. Good communication skills. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and high comprehension abilities.

Experience:

Minimum of 1-year relevant experience to Energy Trading in the Philippine Wholesale Electricity Spot Market or similar power market; OR at least 2 years relevant experience in the field of market operations, power plant operations, system operations, and regulatory affairs of the power industry.

Education

Degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Applied Science or Business.

Graduate studies preferred but not required.

Technical Competencies

Optimization - Knowledge of and ability to apply the principles of optimization in production planning and trading operations

Forecasting - Ability to understand and use appropriate data and develop logical assumptions to determine/quantify forecast variables and or the direction of future trends which includes but not limited to prices in the energy markets, energy and ancillary services and derivatives demand, and price, water inflow, plant availability and other power system market variables and macroeconomic indicators.

Hydroelectric Plant Operations - Understands the underlying principles, major components and systems governing hydro-electric power plant to achieve maximum revenue in trading and production planning.

Trading Operations - Ability to formulate and execute trading strategies including mitigation of associated risks to maximize revenue in energy and ancillary service operations

WESM Operations - Understanding of the regulatory, governance, and operational aspects of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market

Ancillary Services - Understanding of the economic, technical, and operational aspects of ancillary services.
