I. Job Purpose
The Tax Specialist provides expert guidance on tax matters related to construction projects, procurement, and corporate transactions, contributing to the overall financial health of the company.
II. Responsibilities, Authorities and Accountabilities
Ensure accurate and timely preparation and filing of all tax returns (e.g., VAT, corporate income tax, withholding tax, payroll tax, etc.) in compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the business.
Coordinate with external tax consultants and auditors during tax audits and assessments.
Analyze tax implications of contracts, purchases, and construction projects, providing recommendations to minimize tax exposure.
Maintain proper documentation for tax filings and ensure all tax records are audit-ready.
Collaborate with procurement and project teams to ensure correct application of tax rules in project costing and vendor contracts.
Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities relating to tax accounting and accruals.
III. Education, Skills and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of tax experience, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
Strong knowledge of local tax laws and regulations, especially those applicable to construction.
Experience in handling VAT, WHT, CIT, and other statutory filings.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional coordination.
