A well-established Australian civil engineering consultancy specialising in delivering practical and innovative design solutions across residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. The firm provides expertise in civil design, stormwater management, subdivisions, flood studies, and site development, working closely with clients, councils, and contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes from concept to completion.

Role Overview

We're seeking an experienced Sr. Civil Designer to join a dynamic and growing civil engineering team. In this role, you'll lead design and documentation for a variety of civil projects, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and ensure all deliverables meet technical, regulatory, and quality standards. You'll also support junior staff and contribute to the ongoing improvement of design processes and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the civil design process, including stormwater, drainage, roadworks, subdivisions, and bulk earthworks.
  • Prepare and review detailed design documentation, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, as well as council and authority standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory bodies to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Review design deliverables, perform quality checks, and provide technical guidance.
  • Support the preparation of tenders and proposals, including scoping, cost estimates, and technical content.
  • Conduct site inspections and liaise with project teams to ensure designs are implemented as planned.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers and drafters.

Requirements / Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Design, or a related field.
  • Significant experience (ideally 7+ years) in civil design within an engineering consultancy environment.
  • Strong technical proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, with exposure to drainage and stormwater modelling software (e.g., MUSIC) highly regarded.
  • Proven track record in delivering high-quality civil design projects, particularly in subdivisions, stormwater, and site development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with clients.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
