A Project Control Engineer is responsible for managing project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery within defined timelines and costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and Scheduling:
  • Develop detailed project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Establish baselines and milestones to measure progress and coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to align schedules with project objectives.
  • Cost Management:
  • Prepare cost estimates and budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Analyze variances and recommend corrective actions to keep the project on track financially.
  • Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Track project performance against schedules and budgets, creating dashboards and progress reports for stakeholders.
  • Prepare earned value management (EVM) analyses to assess project health and communicate status updates.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks and assess their impact on project timelines and budgets, developing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Regularly update risk registers and communicate concerns to stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, contractual requirements, and best practices through audits and data verification.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is typically required. Advanced certifications like PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCP (Certified Cost Professional) are advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and a solid understanding of project management, cost engineering, and risk management principles.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess project performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and senior management.
