Position Purpose

The Business Insights & Data Analytics Officer/Specialist is responsible for collecting, analysing, and interpreting commercial data to support strategic decision-making across the Sales, Marketing, and Category divisions.

This role transforms raw data into actionable insights that inform forecasting, campaign performance, pricing, and category growth initiatives or any business needs.

Working closely with the Commercial and Sales Operations Manager, the position ensures reporting accuracy, data integrity, and timely delivery of insights that help drive revenue growth, operational efficiency, and evidence-based planning.

This role requires strong analytical capability, technical proficiency, and a collaborative mindset to support cross-functional teams with clear, data-driven recommendations.

Position Duties and Accountabilities

WHS

  1. Take reasonable care for the health and safety of all persons who are at your place of work and who may be affected by your acts or omission at work.

Report ALL accidents, incidents and hazardous situations arising in the course of work.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  1. Collect, validate, and analyse commercial data across sales, marketing, and financial systems.

  2. Develop and maintain performance dashboards and regular reporting packs for internal stakeholders.

  3. Provide actionable insights on sales trends, customer performance, product movement, and promotional effectiveness.

  4. Support adhoc and regular weekly, monthly and quarterly business reviews with accurate, insight-rich reporting.

  5. Assist in automating reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual data handling.

Business Insights and Forecasting

  1. Partner with the Commercial and Sales Operations Manager to produce accurate sales forecasts and performance projections.

  2. Analyse product and category-level data to identify market trends, risks, and growth opportunities.

  3. Translate data into strategic recommendations that inform pricing, trade investment, and product planning.

  4. Support campaign post-analysis for Marketing to assess ROI, channel impact, and consumer engagement metrics.

  5. Contribute to predictive modelling and scenario analysis for planning and budgeting cycles.

Systems and Data Management

  1. Maintain and optimise use of BI, CRM, and ERP systems to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.

  2. Liaise with IT and system vendors to resolve data inconsistencies and improve reporting functionality.

  3. Manage data visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.

  4. Support integration of third-party data sources, including retail sales feeds and digital analytics.

  5. Uphold data governance standards and confidentiality in accordance with Company policy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  1. Partner with Sales Team to deliver customer-level performance insights and support territory planning.

  2. Provide Marketing with data-driven insights to enhance campaign targeting and channel strategy.

  3. Collaborate with Category Managers on pricing analysis, promotional lift studies, and product performance metrics.

  4. Work closely with Finance to align reporting methodologies and ensure consistency across datasets.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Identify opportunities to enhance reporting accuracy, visualisation quality, and analytical capability.

  2. Support development of standardised KPIs and reporting frameworks across business units.

  3. Maintain process documentation to ensure continuity and transparency in data management.

  4. Contribute to upskilling colleagues in data literacy and interpretation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Business Analytics or Strategy (desirable).

Experience

  • 2–4 years' experience in business analysis, data analytics, or commercial reporting within FMCG, retail, or healthcare sectors.
  • Proven experience using data to support decision-making and performance optimisation.
  • Strong working knowledge of reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel).
  • Experience working with CRM or ERP systems (e.g., Salesforce, SAP, NetSuite).
  • Exposure to sales, marketing, or category data in a commercial context preferred.

Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and data visualisation tools.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
  • Clear communication skills with ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Solid time management and prioritisation abilities.
