A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR ROLEResponsibilities of the SEO Technical Lead will include, but are not limited to:
SEO Technical Execution
- Deliver SEO traffic that converts and ultimately drives sales for our websites.
- Oversee website SEO architecture, crawling, indexing, and rendering optimisation.
- Manage site migrations, redesigns and SEO implementations required from an SEO perspective.
- Ensure site performance and page speed optimisation, including Core Web Vitals improvements.
- Establish scalable QA and testing frameworks for SEO-related deployments (pre/post-release checks).
- Implement structured data/schema markup to enhance SERP visibility.
- Monitor and resolve crawl errors, broken links, redirects, and canonicalisation issues.
- Work closely with developers to ensure SEO requirements are integrated into builds and releases.
- Partner with content, UX, and product teams to align SEO with user experience and engagement goals.
- Support digital marketing and paid media teams with keyword insights and technical alignment.
- Measurement and reporting as required
SEO Operations
- Own the SEO operations framework, ensuring consistent processes for audits, reporting, and optimisation.
- Implement AI enhancement programs that ensure SEO outcomes are achieved within AI frameworks for Google and Chat GPT and other AI LLM.
- Implement SEO automation and tooling (dashboards, scripts, APIs, log file analysis).
- Manage SEO workflows with developers, content, and product teams to embed SEO into release cycles.
- Establish documentation and playbooks for repeatable SEO practices (e.g., migration checklists, tagging standards).
- Conduct operational audits to identify gaps in processes and implement corrective measures.
- Define and track SEO KPIs: organic growth, crawl health, site speed metrics, and conversion impact.
- Build and maintain SEO performance dashboards using analytics and BI tools (e.g., Looker Studio, Tableau).
- Automate reporting processes to ensure operational efficiency and timely insights.
- Regularly present performance updates and operational impact to senior leadership.
Experience.
- Experience with log file analysis, data engineering, or API integrations for SEO.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and embedding SEO into DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of international SEO, hreflang implementation, and global governance.
- Exposure to headless CMS and modern frameworks (React, , Angular).
- Experience mentoring SEO specialists or leading cross-functional SEO squads.
Technical skills
- 5+ years of technical SEO experience with operational exposure.
- Strong understanding of web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks, server-side rendering, CDNs.
- Proven track record managing SEO operations at scale (governance, workflows, QA, automation).
- Hands-on experience with SEO tools: Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Botify, DeepCrawl, etc.
- Ability to design scalable SEO processes, documentation, and playbooks.
- Strong stakeholder management and project management skills.
Success in this role will be defined by the following:
- eCommerce & marketplace sales achieved against KPI's.
- Website performance delivers against KPI's eg traffic, conversion, bounce etc.
- Advertising budget achieved
- ROAS targets achieved.
- Work flow processes clearly documented and utilised cross functionally.
Success in this role will be defined by the following:
- Growth in organic sessions, rankings, and share of voice.
- Reduction in site errors, crawl anomalies, and indexation inefficiencies.
- Measurable improvements in Core Web Vitals and page performance scores.
- SEO requirements integrated into X% of new product/feature releases.
- Operational efficiency gains (e.g., automation adoption, reduced manual reporting).
- Successful delivery of site migrations and major SEO projects without traffic loss.
