Job Summary
The Distribution Sales Account Representative is responsible for maximizing sales volume and profitability through the company's distribution channels. This involves building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with existing distributor accounts and actively identifying and acquiring new business within an assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Sales Growth
- Achieve Sales Targets: Meet or exceed assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas and performance objectives.
- Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned distributor accounts, fostering strong, trusting business partnerships.
- Business Planning: Develop and execute joint business plans with distributors to drive mutual growth and market penetration.
- Order Coordination: Coordinate the entire sales process, from order generation to ensuring timely and efficient delivery and after-sales support.
- Upselling/Cross-selling: Identify opportunities to introduce new products or services to existing accounts (up-selling and cross-selling).
Prospecting and Business Development
- New Account Acquisition: Actively prospect and qualify new distribution partners and large customer accounts within the territory.
- Presentations & Proposals: Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations, product demonstrations, and proposals tailored to meet client needs.
- Negotiation & Closing: Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms of sale to secure new business and close deals.
Market & Product Expertise
- Product Knowledge: Maintain in-depth, expert knowledge of the company's products/services, their technical specifications, and their competitive advantages.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitive activities, and market pricing to provide strategic feedback to management.
Reporting & Internal Collaboration
- Forecasting: Prepare and submit regular sales reports, activity reports, and accurate sales forecasts.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal departments, including Marketing, Logistics, and Finance, to ensure high customer satisfaction and efficient operations.
- Travel: Travel frequently within the assigned territory to meet with distributors, partners, and key customers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a Sales Representative, or in a similar sales role, preferably within a distribution, wholesale, or B2B environment
- Core Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially in Microsoft Excel, and sales tracking tools
- Personal Skills: Highly motivated, target-driven, resilient, and possess a strong ability to build rapport quickly. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy is vital in processing orders, generating reports, and managing data
Other Essential Skills:
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze sales data and identify trends and opportunities
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with sales teams, marketing, and other departments
