About the role

We are hiring a Front End Developer on behalf of a leading Australian construction safety and compliance technology company. The client delivers digital solutions used across construction sites to improve safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

This role focuses on modernising an existing production system by rebuilding the front end in React, working closely with a backend team maintaining a PHP-based platform. You will help shape UI decisions, workflows, and user experience for a real-world, actively used system.

This is not a design-to-code role. You'll be expected to define layouts, flows, and interactions, and iterate quickly based on real user feedback.

Role levels & experience requirements

  • Team Lead – Front End

  • 5+ years front-end development experience

  • Experience mentoring or leading developers

  • Strong ownership of architecture, standards, and delivery

  • Senior Front End Developer

  • 4–5 years front-end development experience

  • Strong experience building production React applications

  • Front End Developer

  • 3–5 years front-end development experience

  • Solid understanding of modern JavaScript and React

What you'll do

  • Rebuild existing PHP-based front-end screens into React + TypeScript

  • Design clean, modern UI flows without pixel-perfect designs

  • Collaborate with backend developers to integrate APIs

  • Prototype quickly and iterate based on feedback

  • Improve usability, performance, and maintainability

  • Contribute to consistent UI patterns and components

  • (Senior/Lead) Guide best practices and mentor teammates

Tech stack

  • React + TypeScript

  • Tailwind CSS

  • React Router

  • Vite or Webpack

  • REST APIs from a PHP backend

  • JSON / seeded data for rapid development

Nice to have:

  • PHP or backend fundamentals

  • Full-stack awareness
