About the role
The Accounting Assistant provides support to the accounting department by performing clerical and administrative tasks. This includes maintaining financial records, preparing reports, reconciling bank statements, assisting with audits, and processing transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, and payroll. The position requires attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and a strong understanding of accounting principles.
You may be assigned to any of the following tasks:
Data Entry and Recordkeeping
Encode and update financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial files and records.
- Prepare and maintain ledgers, journals, and other financial documents.
Accounts Payable and Receivable
Process invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
- Monitor receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Assist in billing clients and managing collections.
Bank Reconciliation
Reconcile bank statements and report any discrepancies.
- Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports.
Payroll Assistance
Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll.
- Maintain employee records related to compensation and deductions.
Audit and Compliance Support
Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documents.
- Ensure financial records comply with company policies and regulations.
Administrative Support
Support the accounting team with clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and scanning.
- Respond to inquiries from vendors, clients, or staff regarding accounting issues.
Reporting
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial summaries as required.
- Assist in generating reports for management review.
What we're looking for
- With experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in a similar industry, is an advantage
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of relevant accounting principles, practices, and regulations
