About the Role

Tempro Services is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Drafting and Estimation Lead to join the team in a remote capacity, supporting Australian-based engineers and project managers. This role will focus on producing high-quality mechanical drawings, preparing material take-offs, and supporting project estimation and compliance processes.

The successful candidate will report directly to Josh Andrews and Ricky Hall and collaborate closely with senior draftsmen, estimators, and project engineers to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of engineering documentation.

This is a remote, Philippines-based independent contractor role that offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to Australian projects while developing international engineering experience.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Design

●      Prepare 2D CAD drawings and assist with 3D Revit drafting where required.

●      Support senior draftsmen in drawing preparation and revisions.

●      Conduct QA reviews of drawing revisions to ensure accuracy and compliance.

●      Develop equipment and material schedules.

●      Prepare drawdown sheets for project tracking.

Estimation & Costing

●      Carry out material take-offs from design drawings.

●      Request, compile, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotes.

●      Vet and assess quotes for compliance and value.

●      Prepare preliminary estimation spreadsheets for projects.

●      Identify opportunities for value engineering in project scopes.

Engineering Support

●      Conduct basic heat load and static pressure calculations.

●      Support QA processes for shop drawings and project documentation.

●      Assist in the preparation and completion of O&M handover manuals.

●      Provide input on tender mark-ups, compliance checks, and value management opportunities.

Mandatory Criteria

●      Experience working as an Independent Contractor for an Australian, American or similar client

●      Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

●      Minimum 3 years' experience in drafting, estimation, or engineering support within the mechanical/HVAC industry.

●      Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting).

●      Demonstrated experience in material take-offs and cost estimation.

●      Ability to conduct heat load and static calculations.

●      Proven ability to manage technical documentation with high attention to detail.

●      Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).

Nice-to-Haves

●      Experience with Revit for 3D drafting and modelling.

●      Familiarity with Australian standards and compliance requirements.

●      Previous remote collaboration experience with international engineering teams.

●      Advanced skills in MS Excel and project estimation spreadsheets.

●      Exposure to tendering processes and project handover documentation.

Compensation Package

This role is for a long-term, full-time Independent Contractor with the following additional perks:

• Philippine Regular Holidays: 100% pay if not worked; 200% pay if worked.
• Philippine Special Non-Working Holidays: Additional 30% pay if worked.
• Vacation Leave: 12 days per year, granted upon successful completion of the probation period.
• Sick Leave: 6 days per year, available annually.
• Health Insurance Allowance: ₱2,500 per month provided toward family health insurance after the probation period.
• Flexible Work Environment: Fully remote, Monday to Friday, aligned with Australian business hours.

Tempro Services is based in Melbourne, Australia, thus the work hours will follow Melbourne time (GMT +10) with some flexibility.
