  • Installing electrical systems: Installing wiring, conduits, and equipment in new buildings or modifying existing systems.
  • Troubleshooting and repair: Identifying and resolving electrical problems using testing devices and tools.
  • Maintaining electrical systems: Inspecting, testing, and repairing electrical components and systems.
  • Following safety regulations: Adhering to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes.
  • Reading blueprints and diagrams: Interpreting technical drawings to plan and execute electrical work.
  • Working with other trades: Collaborating with contractors, architects, and other tradespeople on projects.
  • Supervising apprentices: Training and mentoring less experienced electricians.

Qualifications:

  • Education and training: Completion of an electrician program at a trade school or technical institute is common, or any related field.
  • Apprenticeship: A lengthy apprenticeship under a licensed electrician is often required.
