Role location: Hybrid (three days in-office, two days virtual)

About the team:

Db2 DBA team on z/OS manages IBM's Db2 databases on Mainframe. We handle tasks like database administration, performance tuning and security managements.

The team is also responsible for backup, recovery, ensuring data integrity and compliance. The DBA team play a vital role in managing these databases to meet FIS's business needs.

What you will be doing :

  • Perform the Db2 performance and tuning of Databases for all the applications across the mainframe LPARS.
  • Granting and Revoking Db2 object privileges
  • Perform the Db2 bind process for various Db2 database groups across LPARS for all the applications.
  • Performance study and improvements along with backup, recovery, REORGS, RUNSTATS etc.
  • Tuning and optimizing the complex queries for better performance
  • Involved in requirement gathering for designing the physical and logical data model.
  • Activities related to Db2 upgrades and Maintenance.
  • Setting up IVP jobs for Db2 validations
  • Creation of database objects in both development and production Environment
  • Build db2 utility JCLs and tune the parms associated.
  • Running utilities like copy. load. unload. reorg. run stats. Check. Repair
  • Involved in changes of Db2 components. monitoring Db2 DASD. Db2 cluster Ratio etc.
  • Involved in the performance monitoring using SMF, RMF and tuning.
  • Tuning of SQL statements using explain and Query Monitor tools.
  • Monitoring Db2 job performance through Omegamon, SYSVIEW etc.
  • Perform Creation of databases, table spaces, tables. indexes and other Db2 objects from logical data models and worked closely with developers to design and tune the database of various business applications.
  • Provide the day-to-day support and administration activities of Db2 subsystems across various LPARS.
  • Monitoring the helpdesk queues and resolve production, test, and QA tickets.
  • Perform the Analysis of Db2 batch job failures across Z/OS LPARs
  • Resolve the Db2 error states for all production Db2 operations across all the LPARs.
  • Perform the core Db2 administration activities, performing image copies of various databases load/unload the data to/from databases, creation / rebuilding the indexes, validating the data, repairing the table spaces, Quiesce the databases, perform the lock escalations and concurrency analysis etc.
  • Perform the database sizing and performing the online / offline REORG activities of various databases.
  • Perform Db2 support for the 3 datacenters (12 hours on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends)
  • Database application performance guidance for the application team.
  • Database performance/availability monitoring and maintenance.
  • Creation and monitoring of the Db2 health check jobs and related items.
  • Make sure the Database design and sizing was performed as per each application architectural design.
  • Setting up utility jobs, test and migrate them to QA and Production regions.
  • Support activities for Test Data Management process.
