Kitchen Steward

Key Responsibilities:

• Sanitation and Cleanliness:
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and cooking areas.
• Ensure that all kitchen areas, including floors, walls, and countertops, are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Dispose of waste and manage garbage and recycling systems according to health and safety regulations.
• Dishwashing:
• Operate dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Ensure that all dishes and kitchenware are properly sanitized and stored.
• Kitchen Support:
• Assist in organizing and stocking kitchen supplies and ingredients.
• Support kitchen staff with prep work as needed, such as peeling vegetables or portioning ingredients.
• Inventory Management:
• Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
• Help with receiving and storing deliveries in accordance with safety standards.
• Health and Safety:
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment.
• Follow all food safety guidelines to prevent contamination and ensure a safe working environment.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation and address any immediate needs or concerns.
• Communicate effectively with other team members and provide support as needed.
• Additional Duties:
• Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or kitchen manager.
• Participate in training sessions and contribute to ongoing improvements in kitchen operations.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a similar role or environment is preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen sanitation and food safety practices.
• Ability to operate dishwashing and cleaning equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
