The Midwife is responsible for providing maternal and newborn care, including prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum services. They assist in natural deliveries, offer patient education, and support women through pregnancy and childbirth. Midwives collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and quality maternal healthcare services.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Conduct prenatal check-ups, monitor fetal growth, and assess maternal health.
  2. Assist with normal spontaneous deliveries and provide immediate newborn care.
  3. Manage postpartum recovery, breastfeeding assistance, and maternal education.
  4. Identify and manage pregnancy-related complications within their scope of practice, referring to obstetricians when necessary.
  5. Educate expectant mothers on prenatal care, proper nutrition, and safe delivery practices.
  6. Provide family planning counseling and contraceptive services.
  7. Guide mothers on newborn care, vaccination schedules, and postnatal wellness.
  8. Administer prescribed medications and prenatal supplements.
  9. Monitor vital signs and document patient progress.
  10. Ensure compliance with hospital infection control and safety protocols.
  11. Assist in emergency obstetric interventions, such as postpartum hemorrhage management.
  12. Work with obstetricians, nurses, and pediatricians in a team-based maternity care setting.
  13. Maintain accurate patient records and birth documentation.
  14. Report and document complications or critical cases for further medical evaluation.
  15. Attends regular meetings and participates in hospital activities.
Job Qualifications:
  • Must be a Licensed Midwife with a PRC certification in the Philippines.
  • Additional certifications in maternal and neonatal emergency care are an advantage.
  • No experience or 1-2 years of clinical experience in a maternity ward or birthing clinic is preferred.
  • Experience in labor and delivery assistance is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of prenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
  • Proficiency in handling medical equipment related to maternal care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient education and counseling.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to maternity care.
