Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy of general ledgers and timely financial reporting
  • Prepare and review property-level financial statements, owner reports, and consolidated financials in accordance with GAAP
  • Track and report on capital expenditures
  • Calculate and update tenant real estate tax and operating expense escalations (NY and CA)
  • Sales tax filing for sub-metered electric at 920 Broadway – NY
  • Provide mortgage reporting requirements to all lenders
  • Budget report by property
  • Quicken Trust Accounting AP and deposits
  • File all RPIE annual reports and storefront registrations for all New York properties
  • File all entity biannual statements online as they come due
  • File annual Washington State Corporation filing for Hard Rock Seattle TIC entities
  • Provide investment K-1s to Citrin for tax return preparation
  • Provide accounting documents needed to prepare tax returns for all entities, personal, and trust
  • Enter all year-end journal entries (reclass, amortization, depreciation) provided by Citrin Cooperman
  • Accounting for family personal expenses
  • Enter all rent received and AR not related to rent
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and financing compliance (e.g., loan covenants); prepare global cash flow report
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of all bank accounts, escrow accounts, and intercompany transactions
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers, and consultants on financial audits and tax filings
  • Maintain property management systems and accounting software (Yardi)
  • Support due diligence for acquisitions and dispositions; assist with deal structuring and financial modeling as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Functional Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in real estate (residential, commercial, or mixed-use)
  • Strong knowledge of real estate accounting principles
  • Proficiency with real estate accounting platforms (Yardi) and Excel
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and property-level financial analysis
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with partnership accounting and real estate fund structures is a plus
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • High level of customer focus, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to assess risks in internal control systems and approve improvements
  • Ability to convey concise, comprehensive, and accurate findings on complex matters
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy

Education & Work Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy
  • Proven track record in managing accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Previous work experience in ERP systems
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Charts, Graphs, etc.)
  • Willing to work night shifts, holidays, weekends, and shifting schedules
