Role Overview

The QA Practice Lead will establish and lead the Quality Assurance practice in Manila, with a focus on embedding automation-first, shift-left testing practices across squads. This role is responsible for defining QA standards, building reusable frameworks, and mentoring QA engineers to ensure consistent, efficient, and scalable testing.

You will work closely with Technical Leads, Delivery Managers, and UK counterparts to align on testing strategy, tooling, and quality objectives. Acting as the center of excellence for QA, you will balance hands-on leadership with strategic oversight to build a world-class QA capability within Proactis.


Your Job Will Be To

  • Define and implement a unified QA strategy across squads, ensuring automation-first principles.
  • Lead the creation and adoption of QA standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Build and maintain reusable automation frameworks and tools that reduce regression bottlenecks.
  • Mentor and coach QA engineers embedded in squads, raising technical and process maturity.
  • Work with Delivery Managers and Technical Leads to embed QA earlier in the SDLC ("shift-left").
  • Ensure consistent reporting of QA metrics (test coverage, defect leakage, automation rates, release quality).
  • Partner with UK QA/Engineering leadership to align quality goals and ensure consistency across regions.

Key Responsibilities

QA Strategy & Standards

  • Establish automation-first testing frameworks and practices.
  • Ensure consistent approaches to test case creation, execution, and documentation.
  • Define metrics for measuring product quality and QA effectiveness.

Technical Leadership

  • Build and maintain cross-squad test automation frameworks (e.g., SpecFlow, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.).
  • Champion CI/CD integration of automated tests.
  • Stay current on QA tooling, frameworks, and methodologies, introducing improvements where relevant.

People & Practice Leadership

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training for QA engineers across squads.
  • Act as the escalation point for QA-related issues and risks.
  • Lead recruitment and onboarding of new QA hires to build practice capability.
  • Foster a culture of quality ownership across the engineering organisation.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Delivery Managers to ensure QA activities are included in sprint planning and reporting.
  • Work with Technical Leads to embed testability into design and development practices.
  • Partner with UK engineering leadership to ensure Manila QA practices align with global standards.

Key Skills & Experience

Required:

  • 7+ years' experience in QA, with at least 3 years in a senior/leadership role.
  • Strong expertise in test automation frameworks and CI/CD integration.
  • Proven track record of building QA processes and practices in distributed engineering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile testing practices, BDD/TDD, and shift-left approaches.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to influence across technical and delivery teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Azure DevOps test plans and pipelines.
  • Familiarity with microservices and cloud-based environments (Azure, AWS).
  • Exposure to UK/European stakeholders and delivery models.
