A Junior R&D Analyst supports the Research and Development team in the creation and improvement of cosmetic products. This role is crucial for providing initial data on product quality, assisting in laboratory batch creation, and helping with quality control during the production scale-up process. The analyst will work closely with supervisors, formulators, and R&D engineers to ensure product specifications are met and that all documentation is accurate and well-maintained.

Product Development Support

• Assist the supervisor by performing initial tests on new cosmetic products, focusing on key physical properties such as appearance, pH, and viscosity.
• Provide accurate test results to help in establishing and documenting the product specification of new products.

Laboratory and Prototype Work

• Create laboratory batches of new product formulations and reformulations under the guidance of formulators.
• Prepare product prototypes for internal review and testing as needed.

Quality Control Assistance

• Support the R&D engineer in conducting quality control checks on new products that are being scaled up for production.
• Ensure the scaled-up product meets the established product specifications from the lab.

Administrative and Documentation Duties

• Assist the supervisor with day-to-day administrative tasks, including the proper documentation of all test results, formulations, and procedures.
• Maintain an organized and safe laboratory environment.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science or a related scientific field.

EXPERIENCE

• 0 to 2 years of experience in a laboratory or research and development setting.

Technical Skills

• Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment (e.g., pH meters, viscometers).
• Basic knowledge of cosmetic raw materials and formulations is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for data documentation and analysis.

Soft Skills

• Attention to Detail: Meticulous and accurate in performing tests and recording data.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues during batch creation or testing.
• Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with R&D staff and supervisors.

• R&D Analyst: After gaining more experience, a Junior R&D Analyst can be promoted to a full R&D Analyst. This role involves taking on more complex projects, working more independently, and potentially mentoring new junior staff.
• Senior R&D Analyst: This position involves leading projects, designing experiments, and being a subject matter expert on certain product lines or technologies. They are often responsible for more critical aspects of product development.
