The Senior Staff Accountant partners closely with the Accounting Supervisor to provide comprehensive accounting and financial support. This role ensures that internal controls are in place, processes are efficient, and financial reporting is accurate. The Sr. Staff Accountant will lead in preparing detailed account analyses, reconciliations, and journal entries, as well as assist in process improvements and policy implementation within the Accounting Department.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

Work Experience:

At least 2 years in a general accounting function

Certification:

CPA or Chartered Accountant (Preferred)

Job Functions:

  • Support the Accounting Supervisor during month-end close, account analysis, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare journal entries, detailed account analyses, budget vs. actual comparisons, and account roll-forwards.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items within 90 days.
  • Conduct daily and monthly cash reconciliations, monitor variances, and collaborate with third parties to resolve issues.
  • Balance the AR subsystem to the General Ledger daily and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare month-end reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in financial statement audits by preparing audit schedules and analyses.
  • Collaborate with stateside entity and market teams on accruals and upcoming transactions.
  • Act as a departmental "Super User" for core financial systems, supporting staff as needed.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives, policy updates, and standardization projects.
  • Communicate effectively with operating managers to explain financial data and analysis.
  • Provide backup support for Staff Accountants and the Accounting Supervisor.

Preferred Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Experience with Workday Financial Management software

  • Experience with Blackline software (journal entries and reconciliations)
  • Proficiency in EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) application

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and online applications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities
