Overview
The University is seeking a visionary and academically accomplished leader to serve as
Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences
. The Dean will provide strategic, academic, and administrative leadership to advance the College's mission of academic excellence, research innovation, and community engagement. This role requires an experienced academic professional who can lead diverse disciplines and foster a culture of intellectual rigor and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall academic and administrative leadership for the College of Arts and Sciences.
- Oversee curriculum development, instructional quality, and program enhancement across general education and specialized fields.
- Lead faculty recruitment, mentoring, and performance evaluation to ensure teaching excellence and scholarly growth.
- Manage the College's budget, resources, and operational efficiency.
- Promote research initiatives, community engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Uphold academic standards and ensure compliance with institutional and accreditation requirements.
- Represent the College in university councils, committees, and professional networks.
- Support institutional goals and contribute to strategic planning and policy development.
Qualifications
- Doctorate degree (PhD)
in
General Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, or a related discipline
. - Significant academic leadership experience, preferably as a Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chair, or equivalent.
- Proven record of teaching excellence, research, and administrative effectiveness.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Commitment to fostering academic innovation, integrity, and inclusive learning environments.
Preferred Competencies
- Knowledge of current trends in higher education, particularly in liberal arts and sciences.
- Experience in outcomes-based education, curriculum design, and accreditation processes.
- Demonstrated capacity to build partnerships within and outside the institution.
- Ability to inspire faculty, staff, and students toward shared academic goals.
