Postdoctoral position in the study of political discourse
The Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen (UCPH), invites candidates for a full-time postdoctoral position in the study of political discourse from 15 February 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The position is for 32 months.
Introduction
The Department of Political Science offers a dynamic environment in the field political behavior and seeks to produce high-caliber research on timely societal questions.
The postdoc will work on a research project about understanding and improving political discourse, supervised by PI Gregory Eady.

Job Description
The postdoc will be employed as part of the project "The Dialogue Project: Investigating and Improving the Quality of Political Discourse" led by Associate Professor Gregory Eady and funded by the Danmarks Frie Forskningsfond. The project uses experimental, quasi-experimental, and descriptive research to examine why political dialogue online can be productive and how it can break down.
The position covers a variety of tasks related to the research process, including:
- Developing experimental, quasi-experimental, or descriptive research designs
- Collecting data through, for example, original surveys, field experiments, APIs
- Cleaning and analyzing those data
- Writing research manuscripts for submission to academic journals
- Assistance to the PI with some project administration
Your Competencies and Opportunities
The candidate must hold a PhD degree in Political Science or related fields. Other key qualifications include:
- Experience with developing and fielding quasi-experimental and experimental research designs.
- Strong academic writing skills.
- Experience with data analysis to complete all data-related research tasks (using, for example, R or Python).
- Experience with implementing survey experiments in, for example, Qualtrics
- The ability to work independently as well as collaborate with other members of the research team.

- Terms of appointment and salary are in accordance with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne).
- The salary range starts at approx.. DKK 39,000 per month + a 18.07% contribution to the pension scheme. It is possible to negotiate salary supplements on an annual basis.
