Technical Designer Head

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Technical Design to lead the design and development of modular cabinet systems for our growing company in the modular furniture industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product design, technical drawing, CAD modeling, and experience leading design teams in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment. As the Head of Technical Design, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing modular cabinet solutions, ensuring that they meet both technical specifications and customer requirements.

• Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and mentor a team of technical designers in the development of modular cabinet products.

• Provide strategic direction and vision for design innovation and process improvement within the design team.
• Oversee the hiring, training, and professional development of the technical design team.
• Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.

• Product Design & Development

• Spearhead the design of modular cabinet systems, including layouts, configurations, and materials.

• Utilize CAD software to create detailed technical drawings, assembly instructions, and 3D models
• Ensure designs are scalable, cost-effective, and meet manufacturing and installation standards.

• Quality & Technical Standards

• Maintain high standards of quality control in all technical designs, ensuring they meet both industry regulations and company specifications.

• Analyze and test prototypes to assess functionality, ergonomics, and durability.
• Implement and manage best practices for design accuracy, manufacturability, and sustainability.

• Project Management

• Manage design timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure timely delivery of projects.

• Coordinate with product development, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure designs align with production capabilities and cost structures.
• Identify potential risks in design execution and work proactively to mitigate delays or quality issues.

• Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to understand customer needs and translate those into innovative modular cabinet designs.

• Present and explain design concepts to clients, internal stakeholders, and suppliers.
• Respond to feedback and adjust designs to align with client specifications and project goals.

• Innovation & Industry Trends

• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in modular furniture design, materials, and technologies.

• Drive innovation within the design team, pushing boundaries to create unique, modern solutions that exceed customer expectations.
• Conduct market research to assess the competitive landscape and integrate emerging design trends into product offerings.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Designer, Architect or a related field.

• Preferably with a Licensed

• At least 5-7 years of experience in technical design, preferably in the modular furniture, cabinetry, or interior design industries.

• Proven experience leading design teams and managing projects from concept through to final production.

• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in technical design, product innovation, and project execution.

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, V-ray, SketchUp, Enscape,D5 or similar).

• In-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and construction techniques specific to modular furniture or cabinetry.
• Experience with 3D modeling, prototyping, and testing of designs.

• Strong understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and cost optimization.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex design concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong leadership, collaboration, and mentoring abilities.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience in sustainable design practices or knowledge of environmentally friendly materials and technologies.
