A Crewing Officer is responsible for managing all aspects of crew management for a fleet of vessels, including recruitment, placement, scheduling, travel arrangements, and ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. Recruitment and Selection:
- Sourcing and recruiting qualified crew members through various channels.
- Conducting interviews and assessments to evaluate candidates.
- Verifying the authenticity of crew members' qualifications and certifications.
- Managing the onboarding process for new hires.
Crew Scheduling and Deployment:
- Planning and coordinating crew changes and rotations.
- Ensuring timely deployment and repatriation of crew members.
- Arranging travel, accommodation, and other logistics for crew members.
- Managing crew schedules and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Qualifications:
- a bachelor's degree in a relevant field like maritime studies, human resources, or business administration, combined with experience in maritime recruitment or personnel management.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are crucial, as is familiarity with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Some positions may also consider candidates with a master's degree in maritime management, human resource management, or related fields.
- Experience in crew management, recruitment, or personnel management within the maritime industry is highly valued.
- Previous experience in operational crewing, particularly for vessels, is also beneficial.
- Some roles may require a minimum amount of experience, such as one or two years.
Essential Skills:
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are generally a must, and proficiency in additional languages (especially Dutch) can be an advantage.
