Role: Power BI Developer

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Design and build reports and dashboards for both internal and external customers, primarily using Power BI.

  2. Create paginated reports using Power BI Report Builder.

  3. Participate in requirement/implementation meetings to understand the business needs and document requirements.

  4. Create data models, database tables, views, stored procedures, and queries as needed.

  5. Build data pipelines to import/export data using Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and other tools and techniques as needed.

  6. Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting data pipelines and data flows.

  7. Responsible for troubleshooting data quality related to data integrity, data access, or performance

  8. Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the data residing on or transmitted to/from/through enterprise servers and other systems and in databases and other data repositories.

  9. Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies.

  10. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in IS or CS from a four-year college or university with 2+ years of experience; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  2. Proven track record developing reports using traditional (e.g., SSRS) and modern (e.g., Power BI) BI stacks.

  3. Proven track record developing and optimizing ETL / ELT pipelines using SSIS, ADF, or other tools

  4. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Active Directory.

  5. In-depth knowledge of the following technologies, tools, and languages: Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft SQL Server (SSIS and SSRS), T-SQL, Azure Data Factory, and Azure SQL, PBRS. Primary focus on Microsoft Power BI.

  6. Experience in connecting to various data sources: SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, APIs, and flat files.

  7. Knowledge of Python or PowerShell is a plus.

  8. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  9. Proficiency in performance optimization: Query optimization, reducing model size, and optimizing visuals.

  10. Understanding of data governance, including metadata management and data lineage

  11. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.

  12. (Preferred) Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification.

  13. (Preferred) Azure Fundamentals or Azure Data Engineer Associate certification. (Fabric specific efforts)
