Job Overview

Research and Development Head manages and directs the research and development programs to meet organizational needs and to capitalize on potential new products. Develops and implements research and development procedures and techniques to enhance existing product marketability and price competitiveness. Oversees research and product development projects, analyzes results and provides recommendations based on findings. Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures they are on time and within budget.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leads and manages a team of product specialist/technologist to constantly innovate product and process technology.
  • Plans and innovate on new product/technology for R&D for the purpose of making the business better.
  • Keep tracks of the tasks that are being done, see that it is completed within the deadline and provide necessary resources for the R&D team.
  • Takes responsibilities for New Product Development, like formulation development and testing, packaging development and sourcing of new suppliers and materials.
  • Keeps abreast of emerging markets trends and technology advancement and selection of new ingredients.
  • Report to senior management on company product technical issues.
  • Oversees all aspect of research program trials, experiments, and improvement of existing products.
  • Works seamlessly with the marketing, sales, engineering, quality assurance and procurement team to meet, translates and evaluates the consumer needs into products of the highest quality.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Food technology/ Food Science/ or any other related course
  • 5 -8 years RnD, Production, or QA experience in food manufacturing
  • Strong interest in product and process development.
  • Knows how to generate new product ideas, recipes, modification and improvement of products.
  • Basic knowledge of food production and processing; thorough knowledge of Food Safety Standards, HACCP and Serve Safe; basic baking knowledge related to equipment and technical skills.
  • Team Player with good communication skills.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of food products, recipe, and procedure writing and food costing.
  • Can perform light physical activities performing non-strenuous activities of a productive/technical nature.
  • Leadership, management skills, budgeting ability and creativity.
