Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Production Process Optimization

  2. Study and streamline woodworking, upholstery, metal fabrication, and finishing processes.

  3. Recommend methods to minimize material waste (wood, foam, fabric, steel, paint) and maximize output.

  4. Time and Motion Studies

  5. Conduct time studies on cutting, assembly, sanding, and finishing operations.

  6. Establish standard working times and manpower requirements per furniture type.

  7. Layout and Workflow Design

  8. Design and improve factory layouts for cutting areas, assembly lines, and finishing sections to ensure smooth production flow.

  9. Recommend workstation setups that improve ergonomics and worker safety.

  10. Production Planning and Scheduling

  11. Assist in scheduling production based on client orders and deadlines (e.g., restaurant and mall projects).

  12. Monitor daily outputs vs. targets and recommend adjustments to avoid delays.

  13. Quality and Process Control

  14. Develop process standards for durability, finishing quality, and craftsmanship of furniture.

  15. Coordinate with Quality Control to resolve defects such as uneven coatings, weak joints, or misaligned assembly.

  16. Cost Efficiency and Waste Reduction

  17. Analyze usage of raw materials (wood panels, fabric, foam, metals) to minimize off-cuts and rework.

  18. Recommend cost-saving techniques without compromising product quality.

  19. Resource Utilization

  20. Evaluate manpower, machines (CNC, table saws, welding, spray booths), and materials allocation.

  21. Recommend proper balancing of workload per department (carpentry, welding, upholstery, finishing).

  22. Data Collection and Reporting

  23. Prepare productivity reports (output per worker, rejection rates, machine utilization).

  24. Recommend continuous improvement projects to management.

  25. Collaboration

  26. Coordinate with Production Supervisors, Maintenance, and Purchasing to ensure smooth operations.

  27. Work with Project/Design team to ensure manufacturability of new furniture designs.

  28. Health, Safety, and Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards in carpentry, welding, and finishing areas.
    • Recommend safety improvements in handling heavy materials and hazardous chemicals (paints, adhesives).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Preferably with experience in furniture manufacturing or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge in lean manufacturing, time and motion studies, and process improvement.
  • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge in AutoCAD or similar software is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
