Network Engineer

The Network Engineer designs, implements, maintains, and optimizes KCAT's cable TV and fiber internet network. This role involves configuration of routers, switches, and OLT platforms; network troubleshooting; security management; and supporting network expansion.
As KCAT scales across Negros, the Network Engineer supports reliability, uptime, and performance across all network layers—from access to aggregation to core.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Design & Implementation
Configure routers, switches, OLTs, wireless systems, and firewalls.
Support planning and deployment of expansions and capacity upgrades.
Conduct network capacity planning and ensure scalability.
2. Monitoring & Maintenance
Monitor network performance using specialized tools.
Troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
Conduct preventive maintenance and configuration updates.
3. Network Security & Compliance
Implement firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, and IDS/IPS.
Conduct vulnerability scans and security audits.
Ensure compliance with industry standards.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain diagrams, configuration logs, and documentation.
Prepare reports on network performance and incidents.
5. Collaboration & Support
Work closely with field teams, NOC, vendors, and service providers.
Provide technical support to cross-functional teams.
Participate in network optimization initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
3–5 years of experience in network engineering in a cable/ISP environment.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
Experience with fiber optic networks, HFC, and broadband technologies.
Experience with diagnostic and network monitoring tools.
Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
CCNA, CCNP, or similar certifications.
Experience with SDN, cloud networking, or automation (Python, Ansible).
Experience with network security tools and practices.
Background in large-scale ISP or telco environments.
