Summer Internship 2026 for Safety Department.

Summary: ALMA, Safety Department is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure working environment for all employees and visitors. This role involves development, implementing, and overseeing safety programs to prevent accidents and occupational hazards within the unique context of an observatory setting (High Altitude, UV radiation, among other risks). The internship consists in to collaborate with different departments to identify potential risks and establish preventive measures while ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations. 

Through your involvement in departmental projects and with our support, you will have the opportunity to understand and learn:

· About the vision, mission of ALMA and the role and responsibilities.

· Assess all risk and any potential hazards at the work place.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate student intern to join our ALMA Environmental Safety Team. As an intern, you will work on various projects related to environmental sustainability, conservation, and management. This position offers a hands-on experience in the field of environmental engineering, allowing you to contribute to initiatives that promote ecological health and sustainable practices.

Roles and Responsibilities:

A)     Assist in environmental research projects, including data collection and analysis.

B)      Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental conservation programs.

C)      Collaborate with team members on projects related to pollution prevention and waste management.

D)     Support environmental impact assessments and contribute to the preparation of reports.

E)      Stay informed about current environmental regulations and trends.

F)      Participate in community outreach initiatives to promote environmental awareness.

Requirements:

A)     Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Ecology, or a related field.

B)      Strong interest in environmental conservation and sustainability.

C)      Excellent research and analytical skills.

D)     Government platforms management skills such as SINADREP, SIDREP

E)      Advance knowledge of Chilean Law 19.300

F)      Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
