The Taxation Manager is responsible for overseeing all tax-related activities of the company, ensuring full compliance with national and local tax regulations. This role supports the unique needs of the building materials retail industry—such as import duties, inventory-related taxes, and branch-level compliance—while optimizing tax strategies to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:1. Tax Compliance & Filing

  • Manage and oversee the preparation, review, and timely submission of all tax returns (e.g., VAT, income tax, withholding taxes).
  • Ensure compliance with BIR regulations and other government agencies.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws relevant to retail and imported building materials.

2. Industry-Specific Tax Management

  • Handle tax implications related to importation of tiles, slabs, and mosaics, including duties, customs valuation, and freight charges.
  • Ensure correct tax treatment of inventory costing, discounts, warranties, and bulk orders common in the retail/construction materials sector.
  • Oversee tax concerns for multiple store branches, including local business taxes and permits.

3. Internal Controls & Documentation

  • Develop and implement tax policies, internal controls, and documentation processes.
  • Maintain proper tax records, supporting schedules, and audit trails.

4. Tax Planning & Advisory

  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and strategies based on business operations and industry regulations.
  • Provide tax guidance for pricing, promotions, large project sales, and credit terms.
  • Support management in tax impact assessments for expansion, new store openings, and product line additions.

5. Coordination & Audit Management

  • Lead the preparation for internal and external tax audits.
  • Liaise with BIR officers, external auditors, and consultants.
  • Address tax assessments, protests, and reconciliations.

6. Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly and annual tax reports for management.
  • Conduct tax analysis related to inventory movement, supplier terms, and importation cycles.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA preferred but not required (depending on company standards).
  • Minimum 5–7 years experience in taxation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
  • Experience in retail, construction materials, or import-based industries is a strong advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of BIR regulations, customs processes, and retail industry taxation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) is a plus.
