The Warehouseman is responsible for receiving, storing, organizing, and dispatching goods efficiently and safely. This role ensures accurate inventory management, maintains a clean and orderly warehouse, and supports daily logistics operations.

Receiving & Storage

  • Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
  • Verify quantities and documentation such as delivery notes, invoices, and purchase orders.
  • Label, store, and organize materials/products in designated warehouse locations.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or hand trucks (if certified).

Inventory Management

  • Conduct regular stock counts and ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain up-to-date stock records in the system or log sheets.
  • Report low stock levels, discrepancies, or damaged items to the supervisor.
  • Assist in stock rotation (FIFO/LIFO) depending on company policy.

Order Preparation & Dispatch

  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders according to requirements.
  • Ensure correct quantities, proper packaging, and timely dispatch of goods.
  • Coordinate with drivers, dispatch staff, or logistics providers for outgoing shipments.
  • Assist in loading and unloading delivery vehicles safely.

Warehouse Maintenance

  • Keep the warehouse clean, orderly, and free from hazards.
  • Ensure proper storage safety, including stacking methods and equipment use.
  • Follow company safety policies and wear required PPE.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in warehouse or logistics operations (preferred but not always required).
  • Basic understanding of inventory systems and warehouse procedures.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment (forklift certification is a plus).
